LORELEY
Benefit Concert
Almost as in VERONA: the LORELEY FESTIVAL
a further surprise was the temperament and the "Italianità"
with which HELGE DORSCH approached the score. He has the sensitiveness for
the musical nuances as well as the talent for big dramatic gestures which
are essential for shows in such dimensions. It was a particular pleasure
to hear the prisoners' chorus (which was enthusiastically acclaimed and
had to be repeated) for once without the monotony of an organ-grinder's
tune. It was also remarkable that the Festival Orchestra reacted very sensitively
to the conductor and played with visible and audible enthusiasm.
